Flickr clone(?) with some Stronger Features!

Ipernity is like the new improved Flickr!
Beside the fact that you can do all the activities like at Flickr: uploading photos, add to favorites, add notes, view all sizes, embed photos to your blog/site, make comments, add tags, etc,.. you can also add videos, music files and make your music play-list in just a few clicks. Moreover, you can do some blogging in Ipernity as well.

What can I say.. this platform rock! For my opinion it's based on Flickr idea but on the other hand it have it's own original style because of the video (that flickr miss), music and blogging additions. So what you get in the and is your own place with everything that you've added in a very organized page and you are enable to share it with anyone you want via URL that you get from Ipernity.

With Ipernity you can:
  • Publish whatever you like : blog, photos, videos, audios
  • Customize your own Ipernity page (like at Myspace)
  • Share what you want with people who matter to you or with the whole world
  • Create a powerful page with only the stuff that matters to you.

Ipernity have multiple languages.

Credit where it's due.... so no credit here then. This site is a blatant flickr rip off, they've stolen colours, icons, and the layout.

Even some of the dialogues are identical to flickr.

I appreciate a good site, but come on, if they're going to go to so much effort to make a site like this, they could at least made it a little original

Adding videos / music / blogs doesn't do anything for me. I like Flickr because i can store photos there, and it looks nice & works nice. If I wanted a blog, i'd make one on a blogging site and reference my flickr photos, i would not choose a 'one-size-fits-all' website like this, which tries to do everything for everyone, but don't quite do any one thing as well as the other specialist sites.

The site has great features, but trying to look like flickr's clone, won't get them anywhere!

I appreciate the effort, and I'm sure a lot of it has been put here. It's just in my opinion that this site is aiming to be everything and everyone. What makes flickr flickr, is that it's a community of photographers; same goes to the other websites that this site is trying to imitate. It is surely a ripoff, heck, they even use css elements and colors copied from flickr :)

But I've been wrong before. Check myspace, I never believed it would make it past the 10,000 users. Boy, have I been wrong..

Hello Furious Wanker,

You're right, but please don't exagerate.

We appreciate Flickr and have been inspired by it and other great sites, just like many people do.

But believe me, ipernity is only inspired, I never copied somme css or graphics.
As you can verify, ipernity uses XHTML as Flickr uses HTML, which makes css incompatible anyway ;)

Flickr's user interface is very simple just as we like. Why should we do something less user-friendly ? Flickr has raised many standards that are now widely used by other websites. But they also have taken ideas from many other - did you also notice that ?

We are unfortunatly not trying to look like Flickr. It is so because the structure of our pages are as simple.

ipernity is growing and changing fast, and we'll certainly change many things in the near future - we don't want to look like a clone.

Let's hope hosting photos and tags is not enough for you to be compared to picasa or photobuckets;)

I really hope you'll take a moment to test drive ipernity, and maybe come back with a more positive comment.
Cheers,

Christophe.

Let's go to Fotonotes.net. You'll see where some Flickr services are from...

Remember Windows interface is born from Macintosh design. And don't forget Macintosh inspired itself from Xerox works...
