Ginger is Coming!

Netvibes is probably the most successful startpage there is in the Web today. It allows you to create personalized page(s) with the content you like (Rss feeds, web services and apps), to gather them into an easy-to-use interface. Clearly the benefits are that you can access your page anytime, from any computer and you have everything you need from a single page.

Yesterday, Netvibes CEO Tariq Krim, revealed first screenshots from their next release called "Ginger". I think that based on the screenshots, you can see that Ginger is a social version of Netvibes. Ginger will enable you to import your friends from your favorite social networks or make new friends. You will be able to tag as favorite any content or any widgets for yourself or with your friends, save an article or share pictures and videos. All in just one click.

Also, create your own universe and build your public Netvibes page. Add all your social presence widgets, create tabs with preloaded content for your friends, add your Myspace or Facebook friends, and distribute widgets.
I'm not quite sure if this one is specially new, but I think it's an example of a public Netvibes page:

I just want to add little something about Netvibes from my perspective:
Everyone's talking about OpenSocial and there is lots of buzz around Facebook apps, but I feel it was there long time ago when Netvibes opened their APIs to their users with Universal Widget API. So kudos on this one guys.
About Ginger, I'm sure there is much more to it then it seem, and I'm really looking forward to see it in action.

i still prefer WEBWAG
http://www.webwag.com/
cause you dont need RSSing
just Cut & Paste from the page
and you design it so EZ like lego
now you tell me
After I spent Saturday to register to facebook, and try to figure out what are all the bells and whistles ?
i think it's Tariq KRIM not karim ;)
Fixed! Thanks.
That's a smart move by netvibes, as orli said netvibes foreseen the widgetspher long before facbook-apps/open-social but they missed the social element which is key for distribution and interaction.
about time.
