Here's an Idea (Twitter tip for start-ups)
I've noticed that if I'm mentioning a company name on twitter (any company), it takes about one or two days for that company to notice and follow me. Surely companies care about what people have to say about them on Twitter (feedback, suggestions, insights etc,.), right?
So I've been thinking... If you own a new (or an old) start-up, and it has a Twitter page, like these three Twitter-page examples: @italki, @twistory, @animoto (..., and there are many, many more), why don't you do this:
I really think it's a situation that both parties could benefit from - Applications owners and their users.

- Add a field in your start-up registration form, that allows new members to add their Twitter username (as an optional choice)
- Then simply follow these users automatically using Twollow, Twuffer or TweetLater, and there you have it: A list of users that share common interest - Your start-up.

Great idea indeed, will do :)
Twollow is also an amazing service and it's the first time I've heard about it.
Until now I've used OutTwit (twitter plugin for Outlook) for twitting and for keyword tracking and it's also doing a good job.
Great idea.
How about if they just use the Twitter API to lookup the user in Twitter by using the sign up email address.
That's a good tip. But I think that it's even more important to track certain relevant keywords (company name, product names, etc), because sometimes more valuable twits come from non-users.
I had few times that I mentioned a product on twitter and someone contacted me about it - it always gives a good feeling.
Not really the subject, but have your heard about facebook solution payement in facebook ?
