TextFlow Beta Goes Public - A Real Collaboration Tool based on Adobe AIR

TextFlow helps a group of people to achieve a better productivity by combining several feedback documents into one.
This was a service that I kept my eye on for a long time. Now it's open to the public and everyone can sign-up and test its qualities (though it's a limited version).

Here is a short step-by-step guide on how-to integrate TextFlow into your collaborative work process:
  1. Start with your original draft, as Microsoft WORD document.
  2. Send it to all of your colleagues for them to work on.
  3. Your colleagues are each free to modify their copy when and how they want to.
  4. Receive multiple WORD documents from your team.
  5. Open up TextFlow from your Desktop, and drag & drop the original WORD document first.
  6. Then drag & drop all other WORD documents from your colleagues.
  7. Merge (and edit if needed) their changes in TextFlow.
  8. Export as a new WORD document.
Currently TextFlow focuses on the early phase of text development where the text itself is the focus, so no images or tables are enabled yet. However, based on this tool performances, I can imagine how the final product will behave like. I'd say it's worth waiting.

Orli: Collaborative software environments like Textflow, Acrobat.com, Zimbra and Zoho can create oceans of records on business interactions and negotiations. Those records can be fodder for e-discovery in a lawsuit. An issue businesses will face is whether to preserve those records under their record retention policies. --Ben
