Postcard.fm - A Postcard with a Song

Postcard.fm is a nice little application that generating a postcard from the image+audio files that you're uploading to the site. All you need to do is to choose image & song (20MB max) from your computer, add a short message (if you like), and send it to your desirable recipient email address.

Well, it seemed cool to send private music postcards to friends, but I reallly don't like services that don't write few words about themselves. And I certainly have no idea where all this music files are going... so use it at your own risk.
No sign-up required.

tape.tv Streaming Music in your Browser

tape.tv is such a cool applications for music lovers! It allows you to listen to tons of great (new) music by choosing your favorite artist or genre, watch clips in full-screen mode, create playlist, and share a song with friends.

I love the simplicity of the player, looks like half transparent layer on top of the video clip, very clean and pretty.

There isn't much information about this site, except that some other features coming soon, so I'll keep my eye on this one. In the meantime, enjoy the music!

More Free Music at your Fingertips

New service Streamzy, offers users the ability to search for media then stream it live on the web. In addition to offering the ability to play or listen, users can also register for a free Streamzy account where they can save playlists and retrieve them on any computer with internet access.

So far nothing really innovative here, except maybe the site layout. However, new features are about to be added soon, including: video search, the ability to purchase music and Ringtones, and the ability to share playlists with friends.

Record Radio Channels from the Internet with Chilirec

Chilirec is an exciting service I've tested today that allows you to record hundreds of radio channels from the Internet. All you have to do is to browse through the channels, find music that you like, and create playlist that you can relisten to over and over. The music is stored on your personal Internet space, and will not require any disk space on your computer.

When you start your recorder it will begin to record radio channels on Internet. Your music will be saved in a personal directory on Internet. So Even if you'll choose not to create playlists, all the music from the chosen channel, automatically saved.

Although I was very impressed by its performance, I was a bit confused with how am I supposed to know which music I actually have on my directory. Apparently, I will be able to search within the directory by an artist, title or genre, and get top-lists - but it will be presented only after a day or two when the recorder has been active long enough...

Right now recording is in progress, and I have more than 2,900 songs saved in my directory already.

Crazy!

Is it legal?
Chilirec works exactly like a traditional recorder device, but it is virtual and the songs are saved in a personal Internet folder. You will start your personal recorder yourself. All the songs that you collect will be individually marked with recording time, radio channel and identity. If you save a personal copy on your local disk, you can right-click on it and select properties to view this information tag. Chilirec relies on an advanced technical patent pending solution for personal radio recording on Internet.

Update: Saving music even if browser is closed. 25,000 songs and still counting...

Something Worth Waiting For - AUDIOYO

I haven't yet tried AUDIOYO, but after watching their DEMO I'm sure this is something I'd like. Apparently, the new service will allow users to meet other people based on their music taste. Users will be able to create playlists and share them with friends, or on social networks such as: Myspace, Facebook etc,.

What makes it interesting for me is their interface that looks very similar to the iPhone music navigation, and also their easy-to-use drag & drop functionality. It may be an iPhone application only BTW, but right now it looks like they have both versions: Web and Mobile.

Watch the impressive DEMO, and sigh-up for your account here

Update: I had a feeling that this video will be removed by its user (AUDIOYO). That is too bad, especially for them.

Update2: New video is up (check comments for more)

Blogmusik Amazes Me for the Second Time in a Row

I remember when I first wrote about Blogmusik back at September, I was very impressed by their application. Now after the service upgrade, it sure functions much better.

If you used this service before, then you'll note that they have replaced the whole layout and improved streaming. If it's the first time that you are trying Blogmusik, I'm sure that you'll enjoy it as it is.

Blogmusik is a Flash-based application that allows you to listen, to share music online as well as to create playlists and access your favorites songs anytime, anywhere. If you don't find your favorite song on Blogmusik database, you can request the song and they will do their best to find it for you.

One of the new features is the SmartPlayList: It automatically generates 3 hours of continuous listening based on one artist! All you need to do is to pick any artist and click on the SmartPlayList button. Simple as that!

Also, FoxyTunes has an awesome extension (Firefox only) that allows you to twitter right from your browser. It's called TwittyTunes and it lets you post your currently playing songs to Twitter with a click.

Explore & Share Music with your Friends

Ezmo is a Web based music player that makes it easy for a group of friends to share music.
The music player is online rather than on your computer. (Built with Adobe Flex technology to allow a better and unique user experience)
The music is played directly from the web site. It means that once you use Ezmo, you have your and your friends music available wherever you find a computer with an internet connection.

First thing that you'll need to do is to upload music to Ezmo. The easiest way to do this is to download their "Music uploader". If you wish to only upload a couple of songs, use the "Manual Upload" button in the top bar. After the uploading you can enjoy your music and share it with 10 of your friends. You're doing this simply by sending them invitations and when an invitation has been accepted your friends will appear in your music column. Then you can listen to what your friends uploaded and they can listen to yours. Ezmo also allows you to create playlists from your own songs.

Although the concept is good, the player looks great, and when it worked, the streaming was not bad, still it was hard for me to test this because it was just too slow to use.
But hey, this new service is online for less then 24 hours so I'll give them the chance to prove I'm wrong :-)

Invite your friends

A New Web-Based Music Player - Awesome one!

A great new online music player called Spool.fm, allows you to search for all your favorites music and easily to create playlists from the results of that. You'll be able to hear those playlists over and over on the Web. No download required.

Spool.fm built with Ajax, and have a lot of sexy features such as:
  • Easy drag & drop to create playlists
  • Similar artists recommendations
  • Listen with a friend -which allows you to listen in real time to what a friend is listening to!
Listen with a friend

On my daily basis I'm using Radioblogclub as one of my favorite services.
If Spool.fm will stay stable and quick as it is now, I'm definitely going to keep on using them as well.

There is one important feature missing though: The option to embed a song or a playlist to your site/blog.

Still a great application, I've really enjoyed using it.

Pandora to Limit their Service to U.S users ONLY!

All non-U.S Pandora users, you have only one day left to enjoy this great service. This is by far the most saddest news I've ever heard in regards to Web2.0 services.

Pandora has some issues regarding rights lately that were solved only in the U.S for now. The only "comfort" I could find on Mike's blog is this paragraph:
"I spoke with CTO Tom Conrad this evening about the change. He says Pandora has been working on international rights deals for nearly two years now, and they hope to have enough deals done in the UK and Canada to launch in those countries soon. Other markets will take longer, he says."
Bummer :(

Read the all story on TechCrunch.

Update! How to access Pandora from outside the U.S via LifeHacker.
(Thanks Val)

Flickr clone(?) with some Stronger Features!

Ipernity is like the new improved Flickr!
Beside the fact that you can do all the activities like at Flickr: uploading photos, add to favorites, add notes, view all sizes, embed photos to your blog/site, make comments, add tags, etc,.. you can also add videos, music files and make your music play-list in just a few clicks. Moreover, you can do some blogging in Ipernity as well.

What can I say.. this platform rock! For my opinion it's based on Flickr idea but on the other hand it have it's own original style because of the video (that flickr miss), music and blogging additions. So what you get in the and is your own place with everything that you've added in a very organized page and you are enable to share it with anyone you want via URL that you get from Ipernity.

With Ipernity you can:
  • Publish whatever you like : blog, photos, videos, audios
  • Customize your own Ipernity page (like at Myspace)
  • Share what you want with people who matter to you or with the whole world
  • Create a powerful page with only the stuff that matters to you.

Ipernity have multiple languages.
